Trademarks are registered for 10 years as of the application filing. At the elapsed of this period, the trademark protection may be renewed for additional periods of 10 years each, and so subject to payment of official fees.

Following an execution of a trademark assignment transaction, the assignment should be recorded with the Israeli Patent Office and the trademark owner details should be updated in order to reflect the assignment.

Another trademark transaction that should be recorded is granting of a license to exploit the trademark. Such licenses are common in exporter-importer relationships or in distributorship agreements. The license must be registered with the Israeli Patent Office in order to be effective. The failure to record the license granting may result in unauthorized usage of the trademark or even the trademark being considered as abandon due to lack of usage by its owner.
